About Aida

Pearson identified calculus as a major roadblock in STEM fields (I personally struggled with Calculus so I can't agree more). Pearson's new calculus tutor app allows users to take a photo of their homework and identify steps where mistakes are made. Instead of simply giving the student the solution, Aida pinpoints mistakes and gives hints to help students problem solve. Adaptive learning principles are evident in the way the app recommends content based on student behavior. This shows a step towards mobile-app based adaptive learning systems. It is also special in the sense that instead of following a preset sequence, students initiate the questioning to identify weak concepts. This form of intelligent adaptive learning puts the student in the driver seat.

Advantages: Mobile-app based, student-driven learning, easy navigation, doesn't just give the answer

Disadvantages: Problems with visual recognition
